Los Encajeros is a family-run brand from Bilbao founded back in 1880 by Manuel Mendoza Miranda. Having journeyed with his parents across the border between Fermoselle (a little village in Zamora) and Portugal so that they could buy Dutch lace mantillas to sell among their Spanish neighbours, he decided to set out on his own at just 16 years old to the Basque country to establish his own atelier making high-end lingerie. His grandson later took over, travelling all over Spain to sell luxury sheets and textiles from Switzerland, Belgium and Britain, and allowing Los Encajeros to slowly and carefully grow its collections and presence across Europe. Today, four generations on, its focus remains on traditional luxury. Its centenary history defines its mission: to create the best home linens using the best quality materials and craftsmanship.
