Having worked for some of Paris's most prestigious luxury houses (Dior, Chloe, Louis Vuitton and Givenchy, among others), NOMASEI’s founders Paule and Marine met three years ago in a luxury shoe factory in Venice. Together, they decided to create NOMASEI, with the aim of reconnecting with timeless, honest luxury, based on respect, sharing, ethical commitment and transparency. They are inspired by the stories of strong, free and rebellious women, their footwear is timeless and head-turning for fashion-forward females. While their shoes come in a whole host of colours, there’s a core palette that drives it all which is a tribute to their one and only family-run shoe factories in Montopoli that is run by the founders' three sons and employs around forty people: Montopoli red, the color of terracotta, the typical terracotta of the Tuscan hills and Siena, and the yellowed white of Pompeii marble.
A brand that cares to do everything thoughtfully, all of their leather is selected not only for its aesthetic qualities and comfort, but also to meet their ethical and sustainable standards. NOMASEI works exclusively with tanneries with international certifications such as Reach or members of the Leather Working Group. The leathers come from France, Italy and Holland and are tanned in Italy, near Montopoli in Tuscany with a factory that distinguishes itself by its constant questioning of processes to be ever more virtuous, the use of clean materials such as solvent-free glues and a network of small family businesses sharing common values. Faced with the debate on ethical leather, they have adopted a nuanced approach, favouring metal-free leather and vegetable tanning.
