"I'd go back in heartbeat. From the freshly baked ensaïmadas, offered as a sweet side treat to an already indulgent breakfast, to the calm yet on top of everything team, Son Net is one of those places you feel like you've known for years. They also went to the trouble of organising a private dinner for my mum's 70th birthday, a fantastic surprise and much appreciated gesture." — Katherine
Rooms
Rooms aren’t the right words for Son Net’s sleepover spaces. They’re the most sublime suites filled with rich details, historic nods and textiles we reckon even the blind would somehow be able to appreciate. Truthfully, there isn’t a single room here that disappoints – trust us, Sarah has photographed them all. Pick a pool suite or cottage if you want a bit more space and your own private place for a dip away from the main manor. But our favourite is probably the Galilea Junior Suite on the second floor with mountain views, a ruffled four poster and a charming cottage-y feel.
Spaces
Gardens, a private Malvasia vineyard and organic orchards plus a majestic pool with loungers and hidden cabanas covers Son Net’s impressive exterior. Not forgetting its en plein air restaurant that is quite perfect for sun-drenched lunches. Inside, there’s a spring-fed well, a private chapel and the original 17th-century interior courtyard, but its pattern-heavy drawing room is a firm favourite of ours, meticulously decorated by interior designer Lorenzo Castillo. Spanning over 1000 sqm, is its new spa with sea salt heated pool waters, five treatment rooms, a thermal circuit and a fitness room surrounded by spectacular views of Serra de Tramuntana.
Son Net is seriously special. The décor is something else: historic and somehow homely, stately, sumptuous and completely captivating. The food is exquisite: a mix of Mallorcan and modern with two restaurants to move between that feature food from its gardens, homemade jams from its orchards, and Km 0 ingredients sourced from local producers. The setting is tranquil and magnificently manicured, yet doesn’t feel contrived. And the staff leave you wanting for nothing. A hidden gem and then some.
