"I love everything Rosh Mahtani touches, and her jewellery expressions of literature and art celebrate adventure, creativity and imperfection all chime with me to such an extent I’d wear every single piece if I could." — Katherine
British brand Alighieri was founded by Rosh Mahtani who sought to blend three of her greatest loves: magical objects, photography and storytelling. At university, she fell in love with Dante Alighieri, and identified with the same feelings of uncertainty and loss, so went about creating her own universe. Each fragmented talisman is inspired by Dante Alighieri’s own story of being lost in a dark wood. In 2014, with no formal training, she found freedom in forging her own jewellery, carving one piece for each Canto of Dante’s Divine Comedy. Many years and designs later, her modern heirlooms celebrate the beauty of human imperfection and vulnerability through jewellery hand-cast in recycled silver, bronze and gold, each plated in her signature 24kt gold finish in London’s Hatton Garden.
